The USVI will reopen to tourism in June with a new yacht charter sailing itinerary!
As former crew & owners of a 72' yacht based in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, we always wondered why charter guests thought they had to go to the neighboring British Virgin Islands for their vacations. Yes, the islands in the BVI are great but it's possible they are going to be closed to tourism until September which is the middle of hurricane season! This means that charter yachts are not allowed to bring guests to the BVI until then. But we have a plan!
Ultimately the turquoise water, white beaches, fun things to do and amazing island culture are great no matter whether you are in the USVI or the BVI! The American crews who are chartering the catamarans in this video are based in the USVI. They have put together a fun sailing vacation itinerary exploring St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix and the quaint, uninhabited outer islands of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Interested? The hurricanes of 2017 brought a stop to Intensive fishing in the Caribbean to supply the tourism industry. By winter of that year, we witnessed an explosion of life in the sea. Lobsters repopulated the coral reefs, along with groupers, snappers, and jackfish filling the Caves at Norman Island, and the less visited outer areas, and lagoons. This new pause in worldwide travel has been like 'resetting' the ecosystem…yet again! At the reopening of the borders we will offer to our clients a fresh, new outlook of sea life, teaming with life.
Flights in June to the U.S. Virgin Islands:
American Airlines: Daily service from Miami on June 5. Currently they are flying to St. Thomas 5-6 times a week. Delta: Daily service from Atlanta or New York until July 2 and July 3 respectively. United: Flights from Newark to St. Thomas, and a flight between Washington DC on seven days in June. Spirit Airlines: Ft. Lauderdale to St. Thomas route on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays only for the month of June. JetBlue: They have scaled their flights back but there is a nonstop flight regularly from San Juan to St. Thomas. We'd like to thank all our partners for helping to put in place as flexible conditions as possible to help and accommodate and to encourage clients to book for the future. Newly written yacht charter contracts will allow for unexpected travel restrictions with an option to rebook if necessary within a specified time frame. Life goes on and there will be something to look forward to on the “other side”.
